Nigeria Records 4.07% GDP Growth in Q4 2025  — NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics has announced that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.07% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, following the rebasing of the GDP with 2019 as the new base year.

The latest figure represents an improvement over the 3.76% growth recorded in Q4 2024, reflecting stronger performance across key sectors of the economy.

Aggregate GDP at basic price stood at ₦122.81 trillion in nominal terms, compared to ₦104.48 trillion in Q4 2024 — indicating a 17.55% year-on-year nominal increase.

On an annual basis, Nigeria’s economy grew by 3.87% in 2025, up from 3.38% in 2024.

Oil Sector

The oil sector recorded 6.79% real growth (year-on-year) in Q4 2025 — significantly higher than 2.08% in Q4 2024 and 5.84% in Q3 2025.

However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the sector contracted by -6.30%, indicating short-term volatility.

Oil contributed 2.87% to total real GDP in Q4 2025, slightly higher than 2.80% in Q4 2024 but lower than 3.44% recorded in Q3 2025.

For the full year, the oil sector grew by 8.50%, outperforming its 5.54% growth in 2024, and contributed 3.53% to overall GDP in 2025

Non-Oil Sector

The non-oil sector grew by 3.99% in Q4 2025, slightly higher than 3.80% in Q4 2024 and above the 3.91% recorded in Q3 2025.

It accounted for 97.13% of total real GDP, underscoring its continued dominance. Key drivers included:

Real Estate

Trade

Financial Institutions

Construction

Road Transport

Food, Beverage & Tobacco Manufacturing

On an annual basis, the non-oil sector contributed 96.47% in 2025, marginally lower than 96.62% in 2024.

Agriculture

The agricultural sector expanded by 4.00% (year-on-year) in Q4 2025, a notable improvement from 2.54% recorded in Q4 2024.

Quarter-on-quarter growth stood at 2.98%, while annual growth for 2025 reached 2.92%, significantly higher than 1.69% in 2024.

However, agriculture’s contribution to total GDP moderated slightly to 28.66%, down from 28.68% in Q4 2024 and 31.21% in Q3 2025. For the full year, the sector contributed 27.55%, slightly lower than 2024’s 27.81%.

Information & Communication

The Information and Communication sector remained one of the fastest-growing segments, expanding by 7.55% year-on-year in Q4 2025.

Quarter-on-quarter growth surged to 18.75%, while annual growth stood at 6.85%, higher than 5.57% in 2024.

The sector contributed 9.64% to GDP in Q4 2025, up from 9.32% in Q4 2024. Its full-year contribution rose to 10.07% in 2025, compared to 9.79% in 2024.
