Troops Foil Planned Terrorist Attack Near IDP Camp in Borno

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have foiled a planned terrorist attack in Borno State following what security sources described as improved intelligence gathering and stronger inter-agency coordination in ongoing counterterrorism operations across Nigeria’s North East.
The troops reportedly discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists near an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp and a military facility in Ladari, preventing what could have resulted in heavy casualties and destruction.
Military sources said the operation was part of intensified surveillance and clearance missions being carried out in vulnerable communities and strategic corridors within the theatre of operations.
Arms Recovered During Clearance Operations
In a related operation, troops conducting clearance patrols along the Ladari riverbanks recovered arms and ammunition abandoned by fleeing terrorists during sustained military offensives.
Items recovered included pistols, 9mm ammunition and cartridges.
Security analysts said the latest breakthroughs highlight the growing impact of intelligence-led operations and improved collaboration among security agencies, local vigilante structures and community informants in the region.
Suspected Terrorist Arrested in Gubio
Meanwhile, troops working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) arrested a suspected terrorist in Gubio area of Borno State.
Sources said the arrest followed coordinated intelligence tracking and community-based information sharing aimed at dismantling terrorist cells and disrupting logistics networks supporting insurgent activities across the North East.
Operation HADIN KAI has in recent months intensified offensives against terrorist hideouts, with military authorities reiterating their commitment to restricting insurgents’ freedom of movement and restoring peace to affected communities.
