Matawalle Hits Back at Amaechi: “Stop Weaponizing Our People’s Pain”

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, H. E. Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, has strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of stoking violence and unrest among Nigerians. Dr. Matawalle issued a stern warning to the former Minister of Transport, urging him to refrain from making inflammatory statements that jeopardize the nation’s peace and stability.

Dr. Matawalle expressed serious concern over the dangers of such rhetoric, describing it as both reckless and irresponsible for a former public official of Amaechi’s stature to incite the public against their own government.

“At a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working relentlessly to address the nation’s challenges through reforms that are yielding results, it is absurd, disgraceful, and shameful for anyone to exploit the struggles of our people for personal political gain,” Dr. Matawalle remarked.

The Minister reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of every Nigerian, warning that any efforts to destabilize the country through incitement would not be tolerated.

“We will not allow anyone to provoke violence or manipulate the hardships faced by our people. Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his supporters,” Dr. Matawalle declared firmly.

Dr. Matawalle also cautioned Amaechi against undermining the government’s genuine efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians, emphasizing that it is expected of Amaechi to collaborate with the government in advancing the nation, instead of opting for narrow, divisive rhetoric.
