Wike-Backed Leadership Takes Charge After Police Unseal PDP HQ

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assumed control of the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja following the unsealing of the premises by the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued on April 11, 2026, the faction said the party’s headquarters at Wadata Plaza, Zone 5, and Legacy House in Maitama were reopened in compliance with court orders and formally handed over to its leadership.

According to the statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the facilities were returned to the custody of the faction’s National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The group commended the police for what it described as professionalism and adherence to the rule of law, noting that the action reflects respect for constitutional order and due process.

It, however, warned against any attempt to disrupt activities at the secretariat, stressing that it would not tolerate actions capable of causing obstruction or breaching the peace. The faction added that security agencies have been placed on alert to deal with any violations.

Describing the development as a resolution of recent internal disputes within the party, the faction called on aggrieved members to embrace unity and work collectively in the interest of the PDP.

It also acknowledged the support of party stakeholders during the crisis, particularly Wike, whose backing it described as instrumental to the outcome.

The faction urged members to move forward with renewed commitment, declaring that the party is now positioned for greater cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
