APC Convention: FG Shuts Key Abuja Roads, Orders Work-From-Home

The Federal Government has directed civil servants working within the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja to work from home on Friday, March 27, 2026, following the planned closure of major access roads in the area.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, authorities announced that all roads leading to and around the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II and III, as well as surrounding areas including Eagle Square, will be closed from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The directive is linked to the use of Eagle Square for the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scheduled to take place within the period.

As a result, all personnel working within the affected Federal Secretariat phases and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have been instructed to work remotely on Friday to ease traffic congestion and ensure security during the event.

The government also directed all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to communicate the directive to their staff and ensure full compliance.

The circular was signed by Dr. Abdul S. U. Garba, Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The Federal Secretariat Complex and Eagle Square are key administrative and event hubs in Abuja, often requiring extensive security and traffic control measures during large national gatherings.
