NCC, Police Deepen Collaboration on Security of Telecom Infrastructure

The Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Board, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, and the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr Aminu Maida, on Thursday visited the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening the protection of critical telecommunications assets across the country.
The meeting, held at Louis Edet House, focused on deepening collaboration between the NCC and the Nigeria Police Force on the security of telecommunications infrastructure, amid ongoing efforts to safeguard facilities considered vital to national development and security.
Discussions also centred on the implementation of the Presidential Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure, CNII, which seeks to protect key digital and communications assets from vandalism, sabotage and other threats.
Both institutions explored ways to improve coordination in support of Nigeria’s wider security architecture, with emphasis on ensuring the resilience of telecom networks that support communication, economic activity and public services.
The visit comes as NCC continue to push for stronger inter-agency cooperation to secure infrastructure essential to the country’s digital economy and national security objectives.
