Kano State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Dr. Zaid Abubakar as the new Executive Chairman, Kano State Internal Revenue Service(KIRS).
The Governor also approved, the appointment of Kassim Ismail as the Executive Director of the Revenue Board.
In a statement issued by the Spokesperson to Governor, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the new management structure will take effect immediately while the former Chairman of Kano State Internal Revenue Service, Alh. Sani Abdulkadir Dambo is reassigned to serve as Special Adviser on Investment to the Governor.
About Dr. Zaid Abubakar
Dr. Zaid Abubakar holds a doctorate degree in Accounting from Al-Madina International University, (MEDIU) in Malaysia. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained B.Sc in Accounting and M.Sc Accounting and Finance.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) UK, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Dr. Abubakar previously served as the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS).
He was a lecturer in the department of Accounting at Ahmadu Bello University and a Tax Auditor at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
He won the ICAN Merit Award for the second overall best candidate in 2009 November.
