NCC Launches Nationwide Digital Economy Awareness Fora to Drive Inclusive Innovation

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is gearing up to host the maiden edition of its Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitization Fora—a new platform designed to deepen digital inclusion, strengthen policy engagement, and accelerate innovation in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy.

Scheduled for November 13, 2025, the first forum, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” will convene technology experts, policymakers, innovators, and community stakeholders to explore strategies for bridging Nigeria’s digital divide.

According to the NCC, the fora aim to create an enabling environment for infrastructure expansion, inclusive innovation, and policy synergy, ensuring that all segments of society can benefit from the digital transformation agenda.

Sessions at the event will examine key issues such as inclusive policy design, digital literacy, affordable access, and infrastructure deployment—all critical components of a sustainable digital future.

With Africa’s youth population now the youngest and fastest-growing globally—60% under the age of 25—the NCC says Nigeria must harness this demographic advantage. The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital tools to empower young people, protect the nation’s over 140 million internet users, and extend digital opportunities to underserved communities.

The fora are being organized in collaboration with several key partners, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), FintechNGR, KOICA, Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON), Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), and National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), among others.

Attendees can look forward to panel discussions, exhibitions, and innovation showcases featuring local startups, fintech firms, and student innovators—highlighting Nigeria’s vibrant digital ecosystem and its potential to power national development.

For broader reach, the event will be livestreamed nationwide via a dedicated portal: scf.ncc.gov.ng
