Nigeria Suspends Third-Party Visa Processing in U.S., Directs Applicants to Embassy, Consulates

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has suspended the services of its third-party visa application provider in the United States, directing applicants seeking Nigerian visas to submit their applications directly through Nigerian diplomatic missions.

The directive, which took effect on July 1, 2026, follows the suspension of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States. It was announced in a public notice issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi.

Under the new arrangement, applicants in the United States are required to submit visa applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General in New York and Atlanta.

The NIS said the directive applies only to visa application submissions previously handled by the third-party service provider and does not affect Nigeria’s electronic visa platform. Eligible travellers can continue to apply through the official e-Visa portal.

The Service said it had put adequate measures in place to ensure seamless submission, processing and issuance of visas during the transition.

It advised applicants to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigerian missions in the United States for updates on visa application procedures.

The NIS thanked applicants for their understanding and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to efficient service delivery.I’d use this version for publication.
