Osun Poll: INEC Fixes August 13 as Campaign Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has fixed August 13, 2026, as the deadline for political parties to end campaigns for the Osun State governorship election.
In a statement issued on Thursday signed by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission said the new deadline followed its earlier decision to move the election date by one week, from August 8 to August 15, 2026.
INEC recalled that it had, on February 26, 2026, released the revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election, which included the adjustment of the Osun governorship poll.
The commission said the campaign deadline of midnight on Thursday, August 13, is in line with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which requires campaigns to end 24 hours before election day.
It urged political parties, candidates and other stakeholders to comply strictly with the revised timeline.
INEC also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, credible and inclusive elections.
