REVEALED: How The SouthWest Controls Most Directorates In The FIRS

There have been several publications on the media alleging nepotism and tribalism at the Federal Inland Revenue Service. Critics of the new leadership claim that there are one-sided appointments that have been recently made by the FIRS chairman.

Investigation by our medium have however revealed that there are currently 28 directors (both those who are tenured and those appointed as contract staff) in FIRS, out of this number, 13 are Yorubas from the South West, with five from Imo state alone!

Most of these Directors have been in the employment of the FIRS before Mr Nami was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

This means that under the previous administration, more than half of the Directors in the FIRS were from the same geo-political zone as the past chairman.

Our investigations also revealed that Muhammad Nami engaged four new directors in the Service, two from Niger State, one from Kaduna and the other from Bauchi State.

The FIRS management has said that they were engaged on contract in accordance with the human resource policy and rules of the Service.
