President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the official launch of Lebara Nigeria as a clear signal of strong investor confidence in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding digital economy.
Congratulating the company on its market entry, the President said the milestone reinforces Nigeria’s position as a leading technology and investment destination in Africa. He noted that the telecommunications sector remains one of the country’s most vibrant industries, recording a 5.78 per cent year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2025 and contributing over 14 per cent to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Tinubu commended Lebara Nigeria’s leadership, particularly Chief Executive Officer Teniola Stuffman, for expanding access to telecommunications services, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening digital infrastructure.
He emphasised that investments in the telecom space are critical to deepening financial inclusion, fostering innovation, and accelerating broad-based economic growth. According to him, initiatives such as Lebara Nigeria will also promote youth empowerment, enterprise development, and economic diversification.
The President also acknowledged the presence of the British High Commission, represented by Deputy High Commissioner Johny Baxter, noting that the participation reflects the enduring economic and diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
He said such collaborations demonstrate Nigeria’s openness to responsible foreign investment and strategic international partnerships that advance mutual prosperity.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to maintaining a stable, transparent, and investment-friendly business climate, Tinubu assured investors that Nigeria will continue to support innovation and private enterprise as key pillars of national development.
He wished Lebara Nigeria success as it begins commercial operations and called for sustained collaboration between government and the private sector to advance Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.
