One of the witnesses presented by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential election petition tribunal has disowned the result that the party and its Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar claimed was in the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Party’s Chairman in Katsina State, Salisu Maijigiri, told the Presidential Election Tribunal, on Tuesday that Atiku defeated President Muhammadu Buhari in the state.
But the computation of results which PDP claimed was from the INEC server and tabled before the tribunal showed that Atiku Abubakar polled 160,203 to Buhari’s 1,555,633 votes in Katsina.
In his testimony before the five-man tribunal led by Justice Mohammed Garba, Maijigiri, said he served as PDP’s collation agent for the presidential election in the State.
Under cross-examination, by respondents’ lawyers, Maijigiri said contrary to the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, the results collated by his party in the state showed that APC polled 872,000 while PDP scored 905,000.
The results INEC declared for the state showed that APC won with a huge margin but Maijigiri said,”We (PDP) are the one who won the election not APC.
He added: “APC scored 872,000 and PDP scored, 905,000.
“These are our own results, we collated in our state not the ones from the server.”
Atiku’s petition at the tribunal is however predicated on what he claimed were results from INEC server which he and the PDP insisted showed that he defeated the incumbent president by a margin of 1.6 million votes.
