In a major operation, the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 67 suspects linked to various criminal activities across the country.
The force public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed that the Intelligence Department Tactical Teams, DFI-IRT and DFI-STS, led the operation, apprehending suspects involved in kidnapping, gunrunning, one-chance robbery, armed robbery, and banditry. The haul includes:
- 5,454 rounds of ammunition: of various calibers
- 300 live cartridges
- 50 empty ammunition shells
- 68 rifles: including AK-47s and AK-49s
- 33 different ATM cards
High-Impact Arrests:
- Gunrunning Syndicate: Three members linked to the Christmas Eve attack on Plateau State villages were apprehended. They are assisting with investigations, and 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 AK-49 rifle, 1000 rounds of ammunition, and 5 magazines were recovered.
- Bank Robbery: Four suspects involved in the Otukpo bank robbery were arrested, with nine AK-47 rifles seized. Five additional suspects were killed in a shootout at their Taraku village hideout. These suspects confessed to their crimes and implicated other gang members, including Terzungwe Shionda, Terlumum Pila, and Ayuko, who are still at large.
