Group Counts Blessings of Reopening Enugu Airport

President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s timely completion of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu is another demonstration of Buhari’s commitment to bringing infrastructural development to all parts of the country.

According to the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO), President Buhari had approved N10Billion for the reconstruction of the airport based on the request of South-East leaders for the federal government intervention. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had also raised issues regarding the unsafe condition of the airport and required urgent rehabilitation.

The Buhari Media Organisation in a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, also lauded the efforts of the Enugu State government and the people of South East for enduring the inconvenience while the rehabilitation job lasted.

“We urge them to see the airport rehabilitation as an opportunity to key into the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari as a leader committed to the even development of the South East and other parts of Nigeria.”

BMO noted that as a demonstration of goodwill and gratitude, most notable leaders of the South East region attended the reopening ceremony performed by the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

“It is our hope that with the official reopening of the airport, economic activities in the region will be given a boost thereby creating more jobs for the youths. With the installation of all necessary equipment for a standard international airport, international airlines like British Airways, Lufthansa and others will start plying the route”, the statement added.

The group noted that the airport rehabilitation is in line with the Federal Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan aimed at reviving the country’s economy for the benefit of all citizens.
