NASENI EVC Inspects Abuja Innovation Campus, Reaffirms Commitment to Commercialising Nigerian Innovations

The Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Agency’s Innovation Campus at the Abuja Technology Village, Lugbe, reaffirming NASENI’s commitment to building a world-class innovation ecosystem that will accelerate the commercialisation of Nigerian innovations.

During the inspection, Halilu assessed the progress of work with the project team and described the Campus as a strategic investment designed to bridge the gap between innovation and industry. He said the facility would provide innovators emerging from programmes such as #InnovateNaija with the infrastructure, technical support and collaborative environment required to transform promising ideas into market-ready products and scalable businesses.

According to him, the Campus is central to the vision he unveiled a year ago to establish a stronger NASENI Innovation Ecosystem, one that supports innovators beyond research and prototype development by creating pathways to manufacturing, investment and market access.

He noted that the project reflects the Agency’s determination to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation capacity, promote indigenous technology development and accelerate industrialisation through locally developed solutions.

The NASENI Innovation Campus is being developed within the Abuja Technology Village, a dedicated Science and Technology Special Economic Zone. The Agency is expected to establish a major manufacturing hub on a 300-hectare site located along the Airport Expressway in Abuja.

When completed, the Campus is expected to serve as a focal point for research, product development, technology incubation, advanced manufacturing and industry collaboration, bringing together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs and investors within a single integrated ecosystem.

The project underscores NASENI’s ongoing institutional transformation from a research-driven agency into a commercially focused technology and manufacturing institution, with the overarching goal of scaling indigenous innovations into globally competitive products while contributing to Nigeria’s industrial and economic development.
