Publisher of an online news platform, Sahara Reporters and Convener of Revolution Now Protest, Mr. Yele Sowore, has been allegedly fingered to be a recipient of one million dollars $1million to organize and fund the much publicised protest scheduled to commence on Monday.
This is according to a Twitter post made by a social media reporter, Abiodun Olanrewaju, (@AbiodunOlarewa6) who stated that the said donor of the huge sum of money is a Nigerian, who is presently residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The motive behind the donation is to allegedly upturn the status quo and destabilize the much enjoyed peace in the country.
The DSS Spokesman Nnochirionye Afunanya had stated in a media briefing that certain foreign persons were sponsoring the #RevolutionNow movement.
While it is yet unclear who the donor is, a source who pleaded anonymity stated that Mr. Timi Frank, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, helped facilitated the transfer of funds to Mr. Sowore.
When asked if the former Vice President is also in Dubai, the source replied “yes.”
In a funny twist of events Timi Frank has however come out to ask the DSS to name the so called foreign sponsors even where there was no mention of his name.
The protest’s messaging and the groups associated with it has raised a number of questions about its sincerity of purpose.
