Tinubu Hails By-Election Winners, Commends INEC for Peaceful Polls

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated winners of the August 16 by-elections held across 16 constituencies in 12 states, praising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting largely peaceful and violence-free polls.
According to results declared by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victory in 12 constituencies, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won one constituency each.
In a statement signed by the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended APC’s new National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for what he described as an “emphatic first victory” under his leadership. The President also lauded APC governors and party leaders for their role in the electoral success.
“Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders,” Tinubu said.
The President expressed gratitude to party members and voters, assuring them that the APC’s “Renewed Hope” agenda was a genuine commitment. “Our destination is a better, more secure and prosperous Nigeria. We shall take you there, by the Grace of God,” he stated.
Tinubu further commended other political parties and candidates who participated in the elections, urging them to continue upholding the values of sportsmanship, fairness, and magnanimity as essential ingredients for sustaining Nigeria’s democracy.
