MASQUERADE: The Naked Dance

It’s a matter of records that Atiku was Obasanjo’s Vice president from 1999 to 2007. What did he do as vice president for eight years to advance his agenda for reconstructing Nigeria which he has become a ‘champion’ of ?

Unless there is accountability and governance , no system of government will salvage the masses in the polity. We are all living witnesses of monumental pillage and stealing of public funds by governments that have ruled the country from 1999 to 2015 when billions of dollars earned mainly from oil revenues were diverted into national and mainly foreign accounts of those in public offices and their cronies. The blatant corruption has held the country hostage and we are now reaping the harvest of the impact of the gross abuse of public trust.

The culture of political Godfatherism is the bane of Nigeria’s democracy. This culture has literally aided to the fall of so many candidates who would have been great leaders in states across the country.
Have you ever wondered why a man who in the first six years of his public service never exhibited any sign of love or interest in the progress or development of the Nigerian project is suddenly professing love? what does someone who has once ruled Nigeria as a VP and achieved nothing has to offer us again as a president ? should we talk about the Transcorp shares saga ? (check Sahara report Nov. 15 2016) or should we go into the saga cloaking the sale of public enterprises by Bureau of Public Enterprises ? Let’s not even mention the illegal withdrawals from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund . Have you reflected on why this ‘candidate’ cannot enter the United State of America ? Even the US couldn’t deny that there’s an open case against him.

So why then should we Nigerians pitch our tent with people who have milked us dry in the past, people who are not concerned about well-being but with enriching their already deep pockets, they will only drag us back from where we are coming from. Nigeria is already on a path towards greatness on all fronts but this people claim we haven’t made much progress forgetting that they are the reason we are on this treacherous & tedious journey back to the top they claim to have turned a new leaf, the only new leaf they’ve turned is that they have learnt new tricks with which to embezzle the common-wealth of Nigerians. We must resist them with our votes, let’s retire them now!
