Reports say a truck allegedly linked to Dangote Group collided with several vehicles, killing multiple people in Enugu state. Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), however, has denied ownership of the truck.
In a statement, the group said investigations revealed the vehicle belongs to Visco Investment Global Limited, a third-party operator.
“We are actively engaging with the appropriate agencies to determine why the truck in question was bearing our logo, despite not being part of our fleet. Moving forward, increased scrutiny will be applied to the unauthorized use of our brand identity, particularly the misuse of our logo on vehicles not affiliated with the Group,” the statement read.
The crash involved a Howo truck loaded with cement and a Toyota Corolla. Authorities confirmed the truck bore the inscription of Visco Investment Global Limited and was traveling from Aba to Abuja when the accident occurred.
Despite this clarification, Dangote Group has faced a number of road mishaps in recent years. The company came under fire after Big Brother Naija star Phyna Otabor alleged that a Dangote truck struck her sister on the Auchi–Edo state route. Her sister, Ruth, was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent a leg amputation but later died.
The accident happened Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, just six days after Ruth graduated from Auchi Polytechnic. Eyewitnesses said the heavy-duty truck crushed her leg before a bystander chased it down and forced it to stop.
Nigerians continue to call for justice, while Dangote Industries maintains its commitment to the highest standards of corporate responsibility, safety, and integrity.
