Documents Reveal How Zamfara State Government Inflated Contracts For Purchase of Pick-Ups By N870 Million

The Zamfara State Government has awarded a contract for the purchase of 40 Mitsubishi Pick Ups for the total sum of N2,120,000,000 (Two Billion One Hundred and Twenty Million Naira), to Arifullah Logistics Nigeria Limited as against the invoiced total sum of N1,035,400,000 (One Billion and Thirty Five Million Four Hundred Naira) provided to the company by CFAO Motors, a car dealer in Nigeria.

The company, Arifullah Logistics Nigeria Limited, which operates from Ibro Hotel Abuja, was awarded a contract by the Zamfara State Government to supply 40 Mistibushi Pick Up trucks at the cost of 53 Million Naira per Pick Up truck.

However, documents seen by our correspondent show that the Arifullah Logistics Nigeria Limited was provided an invoice for N31,627,906 per Mistibushi Pick Up by CFAO Motors.

This sum was however inflated by over N21 Million Naira by the Dauda Lawal led Zamfara State Government in the contract award provided to Arifullah Logistics Nigeria Limited.

According to anti-corruption civil groups, proceeds from inflated sums are often given as kickbacks to senior government officials, often representing the interests of the Chief Executive.
