Nigeria has received the first batch of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from COVAX facility
The first batch which contains 3,920,000 doses arrived at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday
The vaccine was developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University but produced by the Serum Institute, the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines.
Nigeria health officials said that the vaccination plan will be in four phases with top government officials and frontline health workers receiving first
The Federal Government will work with Ca-COVID to transport the vaccines to states. States with no functional airport have the vaccines transported by road using vans with fitted cold cabins from the nearest airport.
