Supreme Court Verdict: Four Emirs Paid Congratulatory Visit To Ganduje
Gladdened by the victorious emergence of the Kano state Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over the Supreme Court judgement on the election petition filed against his victory by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate Abba Kabir Yusuf, First Class Emirs of Bichi, Karaye, Rano and Gaya paid a congratulatory visit to the governor, Monday, at Africa House, Government House, Kano.
Because of the tumultuous nature of people trooping to come to the Government House with the Four Emirs, they visited the governor at intervals of 30 minutes or One Hour, starting with the Emir of Karaye, Ibrahim Abubakar II, then Emir of Rano, Tafida Abubakar Ila, then Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who was represented by the Sarkin Yakin Gaya, Wada Aliyu and finally the Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero.
All the Four Emirs relayed the congratulatory messages from their people, with the unison commendations from their subjects over the good developmental projects Ganduje administration puts in place since inception from 2015 to date.
Emir of Karaye said “We are here to rejoice with His Excellency over his victory, our victory at the Supreme Court over His Excellency’s gubernatorial election. Which the Supreme Court upholds the election and at the same time dismissing the petition against him.”
He further wished that, they would use their today to make tomorrow better for their Emirate and the state as whole, emphasising that, “What the governor is doing for the state proves that he is an exemplary leader who believes in developing his people and the state.”
Rano Emir commends the governor for taking development to the doorsteps of Rano Emirate, assuring that they would always support government policies for the overall development of the state.
Adding that, “We are here with the message from our people, that His Excellency should continue with the good work he is doing for the state. We have every reason to support your administration. This administration means well for all of us. This is the basic truth.”
In his remarks, the Emir of Gaya, who was represented by the Sarkin Yakin Gaya, Aliyu, said “We are here to congratulate His Excellency over the victory in all the courts ranging from the Election Petition Tribunal to Court of Appeal up to the Supreme Court, which all the courts upheld your election as a legitimate governor of Kano state.”
Aliyu commended governor Ganduje for his effort in Polio eradication in the state, “It is more than four years now that Polio is no longer visible in the state. Our able governor is doing very well in this respect. So also in all other sectors of the state.”
Federal government resolve to establish a zonal office of National Action for the Control of AIDS in Gaya, as being said by the Emir’s representative, was also part of the unrelenting efforts of the governor, “We are proud to be associated with you Your Excellency Sir,” he added.
Bayero, Emir of Bichi after urging people to always understand why government takes certain decisions and formulates certain policies, he said “It is our responsibility to always guard government programmes and policies. We are also commending our governor for the good work he is doing for the state. This shows focused and committed leadership.”
“We thank Allah for the victory at the Supreme Court. Your victory, means victory for all of us. It is for the development of the entire state. We are at the same time assuring that, this victory will further strengthen His Excellency’s administration,” said Emir Bayero.
He prayed for successful curbing of the Lassa Fever that took away three people in the state, emphasising that, “The efforts of the state government in curbing the menace is highly commendable. And with what we are seeing in ground, it is just a matter of time, the problem would soon subside in Allah’s Grace. May the souls of those who lost their precious lives live in perfect peace.”
Governor Ganduje prayed for the reposed soul of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero while receiving the Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero, a son of the late Emir. Adding that, “This visit is historic. The very seat you are sitting right now, was the seat our father the late Emir Ado Bayero sat sometime when he came visiting Government House.”
He urged all the Emirs to be up and doing in assisting the state in the free and compulsory primary and secondary schools education, insisting that, “The education of our people rests on all our shoulders. Government cannot do it alone. We need your support and cooperation. So also the support of your people.”
He acknowledged that, since when the opposition PDP took their petition to Election Tribunal up to the Supreme Court “…we are aware how our newly created Emirates have been praying fervently for our victory. Here we are, as we emerged victorious, ranging from the Tribunal up to the Supreme Court. The victory is not for me alone or the government, it is a victory for all people.”
The governor called on all the Emirs to help the government and support the security of the state and other areas of health, environmental sanitation and other critical areas that are meant for the overall development of the state.
He then drew an analogy when the Emir of Bichi was with him that, Bichi town has unique outlook in the history of Kano Emirate, “That the late Emir Sarki Alhaji was in Bichi and became the Emir of Kano at later days. Then Emir Muhammadu Sanusi I was in Bichi and also became the Emir of Kano at later days.”
