2023: From Zero to 20 Waterworks in Three Years

By Abdul Samad Kamaldeen

The leader of Kwara PDP, Bukola Saraki, and his deluded followers have been going around, asking Kwarans about the fruits of the 2019 Otoge movement which swept the Saraki dynasty away from shamelessly stealing from the state’s purse. They’re doing this to discredit the unprecedented achievements of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration. But Kwarans have continued to disappoint them as they list the laudable fruits of the movement whenever the question is thrown at them.

Thanks to the brains behind the recently released 289-page document titled KWARA FOR ALL. The PDF file houses all the achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. AbdulRazaq has done what Saraki and his sidekick, AbdulFatah Ahmed couldn’t do for Kwarans in their 16 years of diverting Kwara’s funds. He’s touched all the sectors they failed to touch. He’s also comforted the lives they intentionally afflicted for their gains. No one will go through the document without commending AbdulRazaq for putting Kwara on the path of glory.

One of the fruits of the Otoge movement and the achievements of AbdulRazaq is the revival of more than 20 waterworks across the state. The same waterworks Saraki and AbdulFatah claimed that they spent over 6 billion naira in overhauling without any tangible result. Instead, they embezzled the money and left Kwarans to be drinking water from tankers which barely brought water that would sustain them for a day. Some people didn’t even get water despite staying in long queues for hours.

Edidi Waterworks, Isin LG, Agbamu Waterworks, Irepodun LG, Share Waterworks, Ifelodun LG, Oyun Waterworks, Oyun LG, Kaiama Waterworks, Kaiama LG, Igbaja Waterworks, Ifelodun LG, Patigi Waterworks, Patigi LG, Lafiagi Waterworks, Edu LG, Rore Waterworks, Irepodun LG and others are there for anyone that wants to access them; they’re not revived on papers like we used to have it in the Saraki era.

Before 2019, the few hand pump boles in the state had returned to their manufacturer(s); they stopped working. And Saraki and his boy, AbdulFatah didn’t think of how to fix them because, of course, they were seriously cashing out from the tankers supplying insufficient water to the people. The AbdulRazaq-led administration has drilled motorized boreholes, solar-powered boreholes, and hand pump boreholes in various areas of the state, in the three senatorial districts. But Baba-70 is feigning blindness on this as he shamelessly asks Kwarans what they have gained so far from this government.

The forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kwara state is between the people’s governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and past thieves regrouping to loot the state’s treasury again. I do not doubt that Kwarans will reelect AbdulRazaq. His three years and some months have been an eye-opener for the people of Kwara that the state can be developed without being controlled by any godfather. He’s also proved to Kwarans that they don’t necessarily need someone at the helm of power before they can enjoy the dividends of democracy.

All deluded Sarakites should be preparing to follow their Leader to his Ogun origin. These 2023 elections are blows destined to land on his face. All his night campaigns and falsehood against this present administration will not work as Kwarans are not ready to let a thief access their treasury again.
