APC Governors Pass Vote of Confidence in Uzodimma, Uba Sani, Dismiss Leadership Change Rumours

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, and his deputy, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State.

The decision was taken on Friday during a meeting of the APC governors held at the Imo State Government House in Abuja.

In a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser (Media) to the Imo State Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, the meeting focused on preparations for the forthcoming APC primaries and strategies to ensure a smooth conduct of the exercise at both national and subnational levels.

Governor Uzodimma, who presided over the meeting, said the gathering became necessary as the party moves closer to its primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He stressed the need for unity among governors, party leaders and members, noting that collaboration would be critical to delivering a hitch-free exercise.

Uzodimma also referenced the submission of President Bola Tinubu’s reelection form on Thursday, saying APC governors and stakeholders must work together to secure the President’s reelection in 2027.

According to him, President Tinubu’s performance during his first term has justified the need for continuity.

The PGF Chairman further called for stronger unity within the ruling party and sustained support for the APC leadership at all levels.

Speaking after the meeting, Governor Uba Sani said the unity of the party was “not negotiable,” adding that APC governors were more united than ever in their support for President Tinubu and the party.

The governors also dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting a change in the leadership of the Progressive Governors Forum.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State described the reports as false and reaffirmed support for Uzodimma and Sani.

“That is not correct. You can see our Chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma, and his Vice, Governor Uba Sani, are all here. They are our leaders. We don’t have any problems,” Idris said.

He added that he was moving a vote of confidence in the leadership of both governors on behalf of the forum.

The clarification followed earlier rebuttals by the Director-General of the PGF, Folorunso Aluko, who dismissed reports of any leadership change within the forum.

Governors from Imo, Ondo, Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto, Lagos, Ebonyi, Kano, Yobe, Edo, Zamfara, Benue, Kebbi, Borno and Jigawa states attended the meeting, while Nasarawa State was represented by its deputy governor.
