The Department of State Services (DSS) has launched an investigation into an incident that occurred on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Garki Market in Abuja, Nigeria. The incident involved a mob attack on DSS staff.
According to a statement by the DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, the DSS FCT Command responded to an SOS from its field operatives who were allegedly attacked by a mob in the market.
The statement said the DSS would communicate the details of its investigation to the public as soon as possible.
The statement also did not provide further details about the incident, but the DSS assured it would not hesitate to mete out proper disciplinary measures to its staff if if they are found to have violated the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures.
