Nigeria’s Crude Output Hits 99% of OPEC Quota in April

Nigeria’s crude oil production rose close to its OPEC quota in April 2026, as average crude output reached 1.49 million barrels per day, representing 99 per cent of the country’s 1.5mbpd production target.

According to provisional production data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, total daily liquid production stood at 1.66 million barrels per day in April, made up of 1.49mbpd crude oil and 174,873 barrels per day of condensate.

The figures suggest a recovery in Nigeria’s upstream sector after production fell sharply in February. Total liquid output declined from 50.45 million barrels in January to 41.55 million barrels in February, before recovering to 47.93 million barrels in March and 49.90 million barrels in April.

The April numbers also showed that Nigeria’s combined crude and condensate production fluctuated between a low of 1.46mbpd and a peak of 1.85mbpd, indicating that operational disruptions still remain a concern despite the improved monthly average.
